Our Professional Services

  • Individual Therapy

Therapy begins with a conversation about your central concerns, and what you would like to see as a result of coming to therapy. A treatment plan is then formulated, that includes a rough estimation of how long it may take to address your concerns. The focus of most individual therapy is the resolution of troubling symptoms that are interfering with your quality of life, in the areas of relationships, work, sleep, or leisure.

  • Couples Therapy

Couples therapy is sought when partners have great difficulty bringing the conflict between them to satisfying resolution. “The client” in these circumstances is usually the relationship itself, with treatment efforts geared toward repairing and strengthening the bond that has been neglected, compromised, or injured. Unfortunately, insurance companies do not reimburse for these services.

  • Family Therapy

Offered by one or two therapists to a family of any size, “the client” is the entire family. The assumption of family therapy is that something in the way the family operates may be inadvertently but significantly contributing to symptoms being displayed by a particular family member. The goal is to help the entire family be the best version of themselves.

  • EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapeutic technique that was developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro to bring about emotional healing at an accelerated rate. It is particularly helpful for those who have experienced trauma as either a child or an adult. For a more detailed explanation, click the green tab below.

  • Christian Counseling

Prospective clients are sometimes interested in finding ways that their personal faith can have an impact on their presenting problems. This is often the case when they have been referred here by their pastor, priest or small group leader. Regardless, during the history-taking phase of treatment, should it become clear that a client’s personal faith played a significant role in helping them through a past difficulty, we would likely inquire if they would be interested in tapping those spiritual resources to address their present concerns.

  • Patient Advocacy

A patient advocate helps individuals and families navigate their way through complicated medical decisions. When a family receives an unexpected, complicated, or troublesome diagnosis, it can be extremely confusing and disorienting. See the biography of Shelly Schaefer for more information about this service.

  • Public Speaking

All members of our professional staff have made presentations to area community groups, including medical and dental practices, school districts, small and large church gatherings, MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers), singles groups, and domestic violence prevention groups. Call us to find out how we can design a presentation for your group.

  • Telehealth

The COVID pandemic caused rapid changes in the delivery of mental health services. Fortunately, most insurance companies now offer coverage for our services when provided through video and/or phone contact. We use HIPAA-compliant technology to offer our same services to you, wherever you are.

  • Student Advocacy

Is your child struggling behaviorally and/or academically in school?  Do you believe your child’s educational needs are going unmet?  Do you think your child may qualify for special education services or additional school accommodations?  Our Student Advocate Specialist, Luke Johnson, is here to support you.  He provides care coordination and expertise when working with schools and your child’s care team to ensure your child’s success in the classroom.  See biography of Luke Johnson for further information about this service.
